If so, The Pfister is looking for a Cook Level I to be a part of our Main Kitchen team and continue its iconic legacy.

As a Cook Level I at The Pfister Hotel, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of menu items, maintaining quality and consistency, and supporting our culinary team with daily kitchen operations. This entry-level culinary position is ideal for individuals looking to expand their skills in a high-volume, Four Diamond kitchen while working alongside experienced chefs.

Built in 1893, The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee has been a hotel icon for nearly 130 years. As one of the best hotels in Milwaukee and the Midwest, we continue to celebrate a grand tradition of gracious service and impeccable style. The Pfister Hotel has received AAA Four Diamond hotel status for 46 consecutive years. The hotel is one of only 11 properties throughout North America to maintain the AAA Four Diamond designation since the inception of the Diamond Rating program in 1976.

What you will be doing:

* Prepare and cook food properly and quickly, following all required recipes in a timely manner.

* Store food correctly using proper rotation and dating.

* Maintain sanitary standards before, during, and after service.

* Set up equipment and stations needed for preparation prior to service.

* Determine inventory of food items and requisition supplies from the storeroom.

* Maintain high quality levels of food production and presentation.

* Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards are upheld.

* Set up, maintain, and break down your station, ensuring advance prep is completed.

* Ensure coolers and storage areas are clean, organized, and locked when finished.

* Assist in controlling food waste by proper storage, preparation, and utilization.

* Perform and complete duties as assigned by Executive Chef or Sous Chefs.

Position Requirements:

* Friendly, polite, and professional team member with a positive attitude.

* Must own a personal set of knives.

* Ability to read and follow Micros (POS) orders.

* Professional culinary schooling preferred or 3 years of relevant experience.

* Knowledge of kitchen equipment, food items, proper stocks, sauces, meat fabrication, and fish filleting.

* Working knowledge of saute, grill, fry, and poultry stations.

* Ability to compose creative daily specials using available ingredients.

* Experience with garnishing and plate presentation.

* Leadership abilities and teamwork skills are a must.

* Ability to work long hours and under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.

* Ability to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

* Strong English language comprehension required.

* Must adhere to the Local 122 Collective Bargaining Agreement regulations, with the option to obtain union membership after 90 days of employment.

* Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and work in hot and cold environments.

Pay Rate: $21.16 per hour
