Job Overview

Inspects and may test every incoming batch of chemicals and products; tests on chemicals being used, such as catalyst to correlate with the temperature and humidity in the plant on a daily basis; tests strength, accuracy of dimensions, cracks, etc. of finished product to measure pressure and forms other tests on products and parts; makes adjustments to tanks of chemicals depending on environmental conditions; will mix up custom chemicals, as needed; and performs other duties to assure all chemicals and parts are acceptable, as well as the finished products.

A Day In The Life

Tests and inspects all chemicals coming into plant before allowing chemicals to be transferred into storage tanks.Read meters, gauges and other instruments and takes/reports inventory levels to assure level in tank is low enough to take in more product.Tests parts and materials to assure they meet requirements, dimensions, and finish specifications.Tests material and chemicals for percentages of content.Drives forklifts to change out drums or move materials/chemicals.Pulls samples from drums, tank, etc. to test.Uses computers, gauges, instruments, and other equipment to test or check materials and chemicals.Tests and measures incoming products to ensure compliance with company specifications prior to acceptance of quality for receiving and payment.Inspects parts for cracks, appropriate finish, acceptable incorporation of fiberglass, contour, and other physical characteristics.Measures parts for dimensional accuracy, using measuring tools or templates.Confers with line leaders and others as needed.Physically picks up or moves part to complete visual inspection. Will lift part weighing up to about 35 pounds, otherwise will require assistance from co-work or uses a hoist to move and inspect part.Conducts structural testing of products.Uses math skills to adjust chemicals, tests products, and assists with formulas and bills of materials for products, as well as other duties.

  • Experience handling chemicals and/or previous chemical training.
  • Experience using problem solving techniques with proven ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office required.
  • Ability to pass forklift test.
  • Requires intermediate math skills.
  • Have ability to communicate well with others.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
