Job Overview

The Hubbell Buyer will be responsible for the timely planning and procurement of materials, supplies and equipment needed in support of the master production schedule. Optimize inventory in assigned areas and procure in accordance with quality specifications at the best possible price. This individual would be required to work closely with manufacturingin establishing production planning and procurement schedules.

A Day In The Life

  • Plan the manufacture of all products through the production facility in accordance with assembly procedures and standard times. Release production orders in the required time frame.
  • Research sources of supply and alternative materials, document competitive quoting, review and process purchase requisitions for materials and supplies.
  • Follow up on back orders of manufactured and procured materials, expedite delivery of orders, make special arrangements for delivery as needed, and communicate to the respective departments the expected delivery dates and potential shortages
  • Ensure purchasing and planning documents are processed in accordance with Hubbell's standard operating procedures.
  • Work with vendor and/or Hubbell Accounting to reconcile PO discrepancies.
  • Promote and maintain good business relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Support plant-wide Safety initiatives.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Supply Chain management or related field preferred; or combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum oftwo (2) years of successful experience in Materials related position(s).
  • Manufacturing support experience desired.
  • APICS certification would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of a variety of commodities would be a plus.
  • Microsoft Word & Excel required.
  • SAP or similar ERP system experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good time management and multi-tasking skills.
