Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, Office of the University Controller, also known as Financial Services, located on Main Campus is responsible for all central accounting functions for the University.

It is the responsibility of the Controller's Office aka Financial Services to ensure compliance with all financial policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the University or imposed by external agencies, including state and federal audit requirements, following generally accepted accounting practices. Additionally, the Controller's Office oversees the maintenance of the official financial records of the University.

Within Financial Services is the Risk Management Department which is excited to announce an opportunity for a dynamic and skilled individual to step into the role of Manager of Administrative Operations to the Associate Director. This pivotal position will not only support the Associate Director but will also play a crucial role in shaping the future of our claim's management.

Key Responsibilities
As Manager, you will take the reins in supervising the claims staff, providing expert guidance, and coaching to ensure a high-performing team. Your role will involve conducting comprehensive claims file audits and managing all cyber claims, alongside overseeing high-profile, sensitive, or large-scale claims as identified by the Associate Director.

In addition to claims management, you will serve as the designated loss prevention and control coordinator for either UNMs main campus or hospital operations, taking charge of all associated statutory responsibilities. You'll also share in the committee responsibilities of the Associate Director and spearhead strategic initiatives, addressing both ongoing and emerging challenges.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

Preferences should be supported in the resume

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Pre-Law, Public Administration or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience in insurance sales, consulting, insurance claims adjusting or investigative roles.
  • Proven expertise in public risk or insurance management.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience, leading teams to achieve organizational goals.
