Job Description

The Vertex Co-op Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Not only will co-ops learn about their day-to-day tasks through their specific work assignments, but they will interact and have exposure to our organizational leaders and their teams.

Job Summary:

Structured under Biometrics, among many other responsibilities, Real World Analytics (RWA) is responsible to in-house database stewardship, providing analytic support to real-world evidence generation, developing dashboard, and maintaining RWA Vnet page. The RWA Co-op will work with RWA team and is responsible for projects that assigned by the team manager. The Co-op will have opportunity to learn and leverage Vertex in-house licensed databases to support team's research needs and activities, such as explore and investigate methodologies that would apply to real-world evidence generation research projects, as well as put together a tutorial database insight book that will give researchers better understanding of real-world data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the search of methodologies that related to the assigned projects.
  • Present the methodologies to the team, implement the methodologies to real-world data, ensure the implementation is transferable to similar datasets.
  • Investigate the representativeness and follow-up completeness of different types of real-world databases, develop database assessment tools and the insight books.
  • Lead explore new technologies in real-world data analytics.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing Master or higher degrees in analytics, public health, epidemiology, data science, or other related subject area.
  • Previously experience of handling large healthcare data, and statistical modeling.
  • Knowledge of AWS and Redshift/Snowflake database management system.
  • Hands-on skills of SAS programming, SQL, R, Python, and ML packages such as TensorFlow and scikit-learn.
  • Good organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and team player.
  • Ability to work effectively in a constantly changing, diverse, and matrix environment.
  • Legal authorizationto work in the United States, now and in the future. Please note that Vertex does not provide sponsorship for internships or entry level roles within this part of the organization.
  • Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before July 2025
  • Candidate must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from July - December 2025

Program Dates: July - December 2025, Full Time

Pay Range 30.00 - 50.00 USD/hour
