Pediatric Intensivist - PRN

Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital is seeking candidates for an PRN Pediatric Intensivist to join our Critical Care Division. Preferred candidates will be board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care, and additionally will have extensive experience or formal training in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care. An interest/expertise in pulmonary hypertension will be given special consideration. Applicants should be eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia. The position will report to the Director of Pediatric Critical Care with the primary responsibility of caring for patients in the PICU and CICU. While this is primarily a clinical position, scholarly and research interests are highly valued and supported, as is teaching experience.

Inova Children's Hospital is a 226 bed pediatric hospital that is part of the Inova Fairfax Hospital medical campus, located in Northern Virginia. We have 26 pediatric critical care beds with 8 beds dedicated as a CVICU. We have a busy critical care service with the full spectrum of support technologies including cardiac and respiratory ECMO, CRRT, HFOV, pheresis, etc. All of the pediatric and surgical subspecialties are represented on our staff. We have been caring for children with congenital heart disease for more than 25 years and have an actively growing heart program. We offer surgical repair of all the most complex heart defects. Inova Children's Hospital is the only dedicated children's hospital in Northern Virginia. Requirements:



  • Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
  • Maintains Active/Associate Medical Staff membership with clinical privileges to include the care of critically-ill or injured children with life-threatening disease.
  • Maintains PALS certification
  • Maintains ACLS certification
  • Prefer experience or extra training in caring for congenital heart disease patients
  • Experience with pediatric ECMO
  • Special consideration will be given to a candidate that is particularly interested or has expertise in pulmonary hypertension


Minimum Requirements:



  • Licensure - Physician Upon Start; Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia
  • Experience - Physician Residency; Successful completion of physician residency program
  • Education - Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution
