Medical Director - Inpatient - Psychiatrist (85% Administrative and 15% Client-facing) Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8AM - 5PM Salary: $300k - $325k Job Purpose: The Medical Director for the Acute Care Campus (ACC) will provide medical leadership, in collaboration with other AllHealth Network and ACC leaders and serve as an active clinician who will provide evaluation, assessment, and follow-up care for clients with mental health and/or substance use disorders at the ACC. The Medical Director is responsible for the oversight and development of medical programs at the ACC as well as the supervision of staff psychiatric providers. The Medical Director will spend approximately 20-30% of the time completing administrative duties and the remaining time completing clinical duties.
Goals and Objectives:
- Perform as an effective leader and a key member of the ACC leadership team
- Provide competent medical and psychopharmacological care to clients and complete associated and timely documentation as required
- Provide supervision to ACC psychiatric providers
- Engage in program development and quality improvement for the ACC
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner with the ACC Director, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Clinical Officer and other ACC leaders in in program development, quality improvement, and utilization management.
- Represent AllHealth Network in the local and regional community to educate other professionals about the array of medical services offered within the organization
- Demonstrate leadership with a strong, experienced, and thoughtful voice. Articulate the organization's needs and priorities internally and externally through consistent, timely and effective communication
- Establish and maintain effective medical staff relationships at the ACC.
- In partnership with other leaders, ensure all ACC operations function efficiently and effectively in compliance with all applicable policies and procedures as well as legal/regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and schedule all ACC medical providers
- Deliver disciplinary action as needed for ACC medical providers
- Provide psychiatric evaluation to clients within 24 hours of admission to the unit
- Provide consultation and coordination to clinical staff and nurses regarding the diagnoses, recommended treatment and discharge plans for clients on the unit or presenting in the walk-in center
- Provide daily follow-up assessments to evaluate progress and monitor treatment and medication effectiveness including any side effects or adverse reactions
- Attend daily clinical rounds and participate with inter-disciplinary treatment team to review medical necessity of clients on the inpatient units, discuss treatment recommendations, discharge plan, legal status and daily discharges
- Write orders for discharges, transfers, changes in legal status, seclusion and restraint, emergency medications, and prescribed medications as indicated
- On-call hours are required on a rotating schedule with other campus medical providers
- Collaborate when necessary with partner medical facility providers, behavioral health organizations, outpatient providers and insurance companies to provide continuity of care
- Complete all required paperwork accurately, legibly, within established timeframes, and to accepted standards of practice
- Ensure the electronic medical record is updated and consistent with the psychiatric evaluation for each client
- Follow all AllHealth Network policies and procedures
- Complete all required trainings as listed in Relias Learning (both online training and face-to-face training) within required timelines
- Perform other duties as required within the scope of the position and the experience, education and ability of the employee.
Education * Graduate of an accredited medical school * Completion of an ACGME- accredited one-year internship * Graduate of an ACGME- accredited three-year psychiatric residency program * Diplomate of American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology * Proof of current Colorado medical license required
Experience * At least 2 years post-graduate clinical experience * Must be eligible for Medicaid certification and insurance credentialing * At least 8 years post-graduate clinical experience.
