Minimum Requirements:



  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years' experience in the same or similar position.
  • Physical Demands: Work requires heavy physical exertion and effort.


Licenses and Certifications:



  • Valid Arizona Class "D" Driver's License upon hire.
  • Two (2) Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Certifications in any discipline within one year of hire.
  • Valid Arizona Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement may be required within 12 months of hire.


Preferred / Desirable Qualifications:



  • Directly related wastewater, water, maintenance experience desired.

City of Peoria's Water Services Department is hiring for a Utility Mechanic II for their Beardsley Water Reclamation Facility. The purpose of this position is to perform journey level maintenance and repair work on water and wastewater process specialized equipment located at treatment plants, lift stations, well and booster sites. This is accomplished by troubleshooting, servicing, installing, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of specialized equipment. Other duties may include completing related tasks as assigned. Shift work, weekends, holidays, standby duty, and call-back duty may be required.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:



  • Experience in a Municipal/Government setting.
  • Have excellent work ethic and communicative skills.
  • Works well with other team members and co-workers.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong computer skills - experience with common business computer applications including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Directly related wastewater, water, maintenance experience.
