Job Overview

As a Furniture Workroom Technician Level I, your key role in ensuring customer satisfaction will be realized through your focus on the customer and your proficient crafting skills. Your main duties involve inspecting, touching up, repairing, and refinishing furniture to fix flaws or damage according to our high standards and protocols before it is delivered.In this role, you'll tackle more intricate projects that showcase and refine your expertise in finishing quality for both wood and upholstery. The detail and care in your workmanship will not only improve our product's visual appeal but are also essential to achieving the delight of our customers.

What You Will Do



  • Applies specialized expertise and understanding of furniture finishes in restoring, substituting, or modifying impaired furnishings to a condition that is comparable to new
  • Demonstrates the ability to frequently and effectively utilize tools and chemicals to correct flaws and blemishes
  • Removes furniture finishes by using applicable chemicals and/or sanding.
  • Blends and matches wood stains to restore the original finish on delivered items.
  • Utilizes workshop tools to apply spray to materials, fix or renew parts that are damaged or absent, and encase products in shrink wrap.
  • Prepares clearance pieces that will be staged for clearance trucks, ensuring all major damage has been documented.
  • Inspects and determines the appropriate recourse for damaged furniture pieces to workroom, RTV or Clearance.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork to record all work for vendors and customers.
  • Ensures quality and timely completion of work.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on finishes and techniques relevant to wood, upholstery furniture.
  • At times could be utilized to mentor new Workroom Apprentice aspiring to become Tech I
  • Maintains good housekeeping and safety practices.



Who You Are



  • 2+ years direct experience required
  • Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays with regular, dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to read and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Self-starter in adapting quickly to changing customer expectations and needs
  • Proficient in the use of computers and handheld technology



Essential Physical Requirements:



  • Prolonged periods (at least two consecutive hours) of standing/walking around the store or department
  • Frequent use of computers and handheld electronic equipment
  • Reaching, including above eye level, crouching, kneeling, stooping and color vision.
  • This position requires lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands. Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 50 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.

Random drug testing for all colleagues will be conducted on a monthly or semi-monthly basis, depending upon factors including but not limited to the size of the facility and the number of colleagues on roll. Colleagues will be randomly selected for testing by a third party. Testing must be completed on the same workday the colleague is informed of selection for testing, absent extenuating circumstances. In all circumstances, testing must be completed within 24 hours of notification.
