Position: Clubhouse Unit Manager

Department: Mission Services

Reports to: Clubhouse Manager

Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

The Unit Manager will oversee and manage daily operations within designated work units of the facility. The role focuses on supporting members (individuals with mental health challenges) in their rehabilitation by engaging them in meaningful work, fostering independence, and promoting a sense of belonging within the community. The Unit Manager will provide leadership, coordination, and direct service while maintaining a person-centered environment that follows the standards and principles of the Clubhouse Model.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for a designated unit (e.g., culinary, TEAM, marketing, etc.) to ensure that the clubhouse functions efficiently and aligns with the Clubhouse International Standards and policies and procedures of Goodwill Keystone Area.
  • Actively involve members in unit operations by training, mentoring, and supporting members, to ensure that all individuals are actively engaged in meaningful work and responsibilities of the unit.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of unit-based activities and tasks that support members' rehabilitation, vocational development, educational goals, housing needs, overall wellness, and personal growth. Ensure that all unit operations are consistent with the standards and philosophy of the Clubhouse Model, including member empowerment, recovery focus, and a non-hierarchical structure.
  • Obtain and maintain required credentialing as determined by the auspice agency by participating in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in psychiatric rehabilitation, Clubhouse Model and Goodwill Keystone Area mandated trainings.
  • Participates in weekend, holiday, evening social activities as assigned;
  • Maintains clean driving record, license and insurance; share driving responsibilities for vocational, educational, social activities, and daily Clubhouse needs as assigned.
  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment that encourages member participation and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with other unit managers and staff to ensure that all activities support the overall goals of the Clubhouse of Lehigh County and standards set by Clubhouse International.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with members, offering guidance, encouragement, and support to help them achieve their personal goals. Provide ongoing support as members pursue education, employment, wellness, housing, and independent living skills.
  • Facilitates peer support, group activities, and work-related tasks that align with members' strengths, interests, and recovery needs.
  • Oversees the scheduling, coordination, and tracking of unit activities, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely and organized manner.
  • Oversees Clubhouse transitional employment sites as placement manager. Participates in job development and community employment activities to assist members in acquiring/returning to competitive employment; provides ongoing assessment of members in work units for readiness/interest to move into community employment; works with community employers to develop new job opportunities in both Transitional and Supported competitive employment. Provides TE placement management services including coverage when appropriate; assists members with individualized job search process; provides effective follow up services to placements to assure ongoing success; maintains a positive relationship with and communication with employers; assures that members are able to report work and wage information appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including attendance, progress notes, outcome reports, employment reports and timesheets, and other required reports. Assures that all reports required by funding sources and government agencies (e.g. OVR, GKA, Clubhouse International, Lehigh County) are accomplished and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Effectively intervenes and resolves crisis situations.
  • Assist in budget management, purchasing, and resource allocation for the unit.
  • Collaborate with other staff, including social workers, case managers, and clinicians, to ensure that members' holistic needs are addressed through interdisciplinary teamwork. Become informed of local services/resources; advocates for members in need of services; coordinates resources/services as needed; teaches self-advocacy skills; communicates effectively with other providers.
  • Communicate regularly with the Clubhouse Manger to report on unit activities, challenges, progress, problems, successes, and concerns to align efforts with the larger goals of the organization.
  • Upholds all Bureau of Health requirements and Standards for food safety and handling. Ensures that the entire dining area and equipment are clean and safe at all times.
  • Promotes an environment of workplace safety by training and informing others regarding safety standards and precautions. Monitors safety and takes corrective action. Assures that regulatory safety requirements are adhered to at all times.

Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field; or Associates Degree in Human Services with two (2) years' experience in the mental health field or a combination of education and experience to enable the individual to meet the standards and expectations of the position.
  • Experience working with mental health populations and persons in crisis preferred.
  • Experience with teaching, training, facilitating or tutoring in the post-secondary realm preferred.


Skills/Abilities/Qualifications



  • Must be able to obtain and maintain ACRE Certification.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain ServSafe Certification.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform work in a flexible environment with limited routine or standardization of work projects. Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Highly developed ability to problem solve.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and satisfactorily complete a motor vehicle check on an annual basis.
  • Be willing to travel within assigned territory to meet the needs of participants and agencies/ organizations that support them.
  • Be willing to work a non-traditional work schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to work independently, coordinate weekly schedules and travel.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable speaking in front of groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must complete and successfully pass Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Clearance.
