High Net Worth Tax Planning Consultant

Summary:

Part of a team of tax, financial, and legal professionals that provide consultation to advisors, and design plans and implement solutions for clients with complex planning needs. Provides in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge and case consultation, reviews tax and financial documentation, and assists in the delivery of customized comprehensive financial plans. Uses subject matter expertise to assist in the development and delivery of customized plans for high-net-worth clients and businesses. Must bring income tax knowledge, financial planning acumen, and strong communication skills.

Primary Duties & Accountabilities:

  • Active collaboration with other CPA team members to consult on tax planning or positions, to build financial plans with an emphasis on estate, gift, business succession, tax optimization, and executive compensation strategies.
  • Analyze clients' financial and tax statuses to recommend strategies that drive client decision-making.
  • Assist with analyses that examine and position tax and financial solutions with a focus on Northwestern Mutual's approach of integrating investments and life insurance.
  • Assist other CPA team members with presentations to advisors and clients.
  • Build and leverage relationships within the division to help address unique client circumstances in the high-net-worth marketplace.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years of tax planning and compliance, preferably in a role assisting HNW clients, other team members, and/or advisors.
  • Existing knowledge and willingness to deepen in areas including tax optimization, estate, gift, business planning, and other high-net-worth tax strategies.
  • An advanced designation such as CPA is required.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a client-oriented approach to translating complex to understandable.
  • Advanced skills with tax planning scenario software.
  • Strong Excel skills desired.
  • Tax research experience preferred.
  • Team player, with the ability to work with others frequently.

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$76,650.00

Pay Range - End:

$142,350.00
