Roles & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the head of the Juniper Mechanical Team - the Mechanical Engineer must be a self-motivated individual to work in a fast-paced high energy environment with short product development cycles. This person will be responsible for the mechanical design of rack mounted networking products from concept to RTM. The candidate must be very hands-on and not only have experience of designing products but also holding design reviews, creating BOM, prototype validation and ECO .

Must be able to initiate and consult on original and creative technical efforts. This may include the following:


  • Evaluate & integrate new technologies in cooling, interconnect & other relevant areas to develop future solution set for Juniper products.


  • Provide project scoping for new product development, track deliverables in support of programs and resolve cross-functional issues.


  • Responsible for driving technical decisions required on a project.


  • Drives technical content of the system specification/unit function specification.


  • Establishes well-defined technical direction and aligns the direction with that of Juniper.


  • Reviews plan and writes specifications for assigned area.


  • Identifies issues and technical interdependencies and suggests possible changes.

Education: BSME or equivalent with 5+ years relevant experience in electro-mechanical design. Experience on networking or storage or server products is a plus

Preferred: MSME or equivalent

Expected Competencies:


  • Must be a present user of a 3D solid modeling package, proficiency with Solidworks would be preferable and working knowledge of EPDM is plus.


  • Must be able to do Tolerance Analysis of complex systems and have working knowledge of GD&T & FEA


  • Experience with IDF & ECAD-MCAD transfer process is preferred.


  • Knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes for low and mid volume production.


  • Good understanding of hard tooling requirements for plastic, aluminum extrusions and aluminum die cast.


  • Good understanding of thermal design, thermal profiling and/or managing outside resources for thermal design solutions preferred.


  • Good of advanced cooling technologies including liquid cooling preferred.


  • Good understanding of NEBS, EMI issues, EMC, Safety and other product specific agency compliance requirements preferred


  • Capable of creating & maintaining product development schedules


  • Excellent communication skills in both department & cross functional skills


  • Experienced in estimating and maintaining part cost, hard tooling, resources (both internal and external) in maintaining project budget


  • Good understanding of overall product development

Minimum Salary: $120,000.00

Maximum Salary:$172,500.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $120,000.00 and $172,500.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Juniper's pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
