Position Description
The Department of Physics at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), within the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics. Areas of interest include but are not limited to novel semiconductors, quantum materials, and emerging nanotechnologies. The appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, depending on the candidate's qualifications.
Our department is actively engaged in cutting-edge research across a wide spectrum of fields, including Cosmology, Astrophysics, Space Science, Biophysics, Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Information Science, and Machine Learning Physics. We are especially interested in candidates specializing in Condensed Matter Physics broadly defined, who can foster collaborations both locally and globally. The successful candidate is expected to develop (at the Assistant Professor rank) or to have established (at the Associate and Full Professor ranks) strong, independent, externally funded research programs, and to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The appointment commences for the fall 2025 semester.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: A PhD or equivalent in Physics or a related discipline is required prior to employment. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
The Department
The Department of Physics occupies UT Dallas' new, ~190K square feet Sciences Building in the heart of the campus. The university has multiple state-of-the-art core facilities including a research cleanroom ( https://research.utdallas.edu/cleanroom/), and direct access to The Texas Advanced Computing Center ( https://www.tacc.utexas.edu).
