Senior Full Stack Engineer

PSI Quantum
$172,000-$205,000 USD
United States
Jan 30, 2025

Quantum computing holds the promise of humanity's mastery over the natural world, but only if we can build a real quantum computer. PsiQuantum is on a mission to build the first real, useful quantum computers, capable of delivering the world-changing applications that the technology has long promised. We know that means we will need to build a system with roughly 1 million qubits that supports fault tolerant error correction within a scalable architecture, and a data center footprint.

By harnessing the laws of quantum physics, quantum computers can provide exponential performance increases over today's most powerful supercomputers, offering the potential for extraordinary advances across a broad range of industries including climate, energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials design, and many more.

PsiQuantum has determined the fastest path to delivering a useful quantum computer, years earlier than the rest of the industry. Our architecture is based on silicon photonics which gives us the ability to produce our components at Tier-1 semiconductor fabs such as GlobalFoundries where we leverage high-volume semiconductor manufacturing processes, the same processes that are already producing billions of chips for telecom and consumer electronics applications. We also benefit from the quantum mechanics reality that photons don't feel heat or electromagnetic interference, allowing us to take advantage of existing cryogenic cooling systems and industry standard fiber connectivity.

In 2024, PsiQuantum announced two government-funded projects to support the build-out of our first Quantum Data Centers and utility-scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia and Chicago, Illinois. Both projects are backed by nations that understand quantum computing's potential impact and the need to scale this technology to unlock that potential. And we won't just be building the hardware, but also the fault tolerant quantum applications that will provide industry-transforming results.

Quantum computing is not just an evolution of the decades-old advancement in compute power. It provides the key to mastering our future, not merely discovering it. The potential is enormous, and we have the plan to make it real. Come join us.

There's much more work to be done and we are looking for exceptional talent to join us on this extraordinary journey!

Job Summary:

PsiQuantum is singularly focused on the delivery of a useful utility-scale fault tolerant quantum computer. In addition to deploying a world-class quantum computer, we aim to deliver a world-class quantum user experience to both our external customers and internal developers. This will require the development of a novel, production-grade software system which will enable the delivery of both external enterprise products and internal quantum toolchains to interact with multiple generations of our system.

This role requires strong fluency in JavaScript and TypeScript, along with a solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3/4, and modern web design principles. You will work on building Single Page Applications (SPAs) with a focus on security best practices, such as authentication and authorization, while ensuring integration with legacy and bespoke codebases, as well as third-party vendors.

In this role, you will take ownership of frontend architecture and development, ensuring performance, scalability, and security. You will also be responsible for writing modular, well-tested code, with a strong emphasis on unit and integration testing.

Collaboration is key in our startup culture, and you will work closely with cross-functional teams to design new features and optimize existing ones. Familiarity with Git, terminal usage, and CI/CD pipelines is a plus, as you will contribute to maintaining a smooth development workflow.

If you are passionate about frontend development, love working with cutting-edge technology, and enjoy contributing to product development in a dynamic startup environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

Architect, design, and build frontend applications using modern tooling, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-quality code.
Design, develop, and maintain frontend applications written in Sveltekit.
Ensure performance, scalability, and adherence to web design principles (HTML5, CSS3/4) across all frontend projects.
Write well-structured, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code in JavaScript and TypeScript.
Work with stakeholders to understand, plan and document work as needed (e.g., Jira, Asana, etc.)
Implement security best practices with a focus on authentication, authorization, and data protection.
Collaborate with product teams in design sessions and contribute to feature development.
Work with both modern and legacy codebases, ensuring smooth integration with external vendors.
Lead efforts in unit and integration testing to maintain robust and reliable frontend code.
Utilize Git and terminal commands as part of day-to-day development workflow.
Contribute to the development and improvement of CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployment.
Mentor junior engineers, fostering best practices and driving continuous improvement.

Experience/Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience shipping products to production.
7+ years of frontend development experience, particularly with React, Next.js, SvelteKit, and Vercel.
Strong fluency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with a deep understanding of HTML5, CSS3/4, and modern web design principles.
Fluency in Python would be an asset, but not a requirement
Experience delivering modular, maintainable, and tested code in React, Next.js, or SvelteKit.
Solid understanding of unit and integration testing methodologies.
Strong knowledge of security best practices, particularly in authentication and authorization.
Experience working with both legacy and bespoke codebases and integrating with external vendors.
