Candidate will research, design, develop, and test electronic components and systems for commercial, industrial, and military markets employing knowledge of electronic theory. Candidate will manage effectiveness, technical adequacy, and compatibility in the resolution of electronics projects. Candidate will analyze electronic systems requirements, capacity, cost, and customer needs to determine project feasibility. What You'll Do: Execute the development of projects for new products in the commercial, industrial, and military fire suppression systems markets.
- Create or update electrical schematics, design files (GERBERS), and design documentation.
- Perform NFPA code reviews related to electronics and suggest design modifications as necessary.
- Coordinate testing of electronic assemblies:
- Develop test plans for electronics.
- Work with third party (UL, FM) entities to execute product performance validation testing.
- Create and recommend necessary design modifications.
- Support Quality Assurance team with trouble shooting efforts and develop root cause failure mode analysis.
- Support the engineering team with electrical-related tasks as required (soldering, data acquisition, etc.).
- Review electronic design documentation and controlling documents.
- Inspect electronic manufacturing facilities for quality and process control.
- Effectively communicate with suppliers to create successful and reliable electronic assemblies.
- Use computer-assisted engineering design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
- Research and analyze electronic components (semiconductors, diodes, transistors, etc.) to verify the selected components meet requirements.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to use an oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, electronic loads, and programmable power supplies.
- Experience with PCB assembly and embedded electronics.
- Experience with an ECAD design software (Altium preferred).
- Ability to program as needed (C, C++, LABVIEW, Python).
- Ability to read industry standards and develop relevant test plans (UL, FM, SAE, MIL, EN).
- Ability to manage EMI/EMC testing and suggest design changes to facilitate EMI/EMC compliance.
- Ability to construct PCB prototypes and execute tests.
- Project management training/certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with STMCubeIDE and MicroChip Studio is a plus.
- Must be able to work well with team members.
- Expected to effectively communicate design decisions or investigative findings to stakeholders.
