Reporting to the head of the Juniper Mechanical Team - the Sustaining Mechanical Engineering Lead will provide support to Mechanical design teams ranging from driving design reviews to the implementation of design solutions in shipping products supported by Sustaining Engineering at Juniper. This individual is also expected to provide technical consultation and leadership in the design and development efforts of complex engineering projects. Must be able to initiate and consult on original and creative technical efforts. This may include the following:



  • Evaluate & trouble shoot field issues in cooling, interconnect & other relevant areas in released products.
  • Takes a lead role in inspecting failures, setting up DOE's using appropriate instruments/machines, coming up with a test methodology to help the team conclude the root cause in a logical manner.
  • Provide project scoping and resource planning to support solution development and implementation in relevant sustaining projects. Track deliverables in support of programs and resolve cross-functional issues.
  • Responsible for leading technical decisions required on a project.
  • Takes a leadership role in technical content of the system debugging and determining root cause and corresponding corrective actions (RCCA).
  • Helps the cross functional team find ways to attack new and difficult issues.
  • Develops or consults on internal training programs. Acts as a general technical resource for workers in assigned area.
  • Establishes well-defined technical direction and aligns the direction with that of Juniper.
  • Reviews plan and writes specifications for assigned area.
  • Identifies issues and technical interdependencies and suggests possible changes.



Education: BSME or equivalent with 7+ years relevant experience Preferred: MSME or equivalent

Expected Competencies:



  • Good to excellent understanding of thermal design, thermal profiling and/or managing outside resources for thermal design solutions
  • Good to excellent knowledge of advanced cooling technologies including liquid cooling
  • Good understanding of EMC, Safety and other product specific agency compliance requirements
  • Capable of creating & maintaining product development schedules
  • Capable of creating & working to internal processes in striving for on-going team efficiency
  • Excellent communication skills in both department & cross functional skills
  • Experienced in estimating and maintaining part cost, hard tooling, resources (both internal and external) in maintaining project budget
  • Good to excellent cross-functional skills (both internal and external)
  • Good understanding of hard tooling requirements for plastic, sheet metal, aluminum extrusions and aluminum die cast
  • Good understanding of value engineering, cost reductions, continuous improvement and design changes for products in production.
  • Good to excellent communication skills
  • Good understanding of overall product development



Experience:



  • 7 plus years of consumer related design experience
  • 5 plus years of experience in managing and outsourcing design related tasks such as; industrial design, thermal design, system design, mechanism design and part design



Minimum Salary: $159,200.00

Maximum Salary:$228,850.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $159,200.00 and $228,850.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Juniper's pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
