Position Summary
This is an Operational Leadership position responsible for the supervision of all facilities, information systems, safety and security needs at the SBG. This incumbent is responsible for supervising other staff. This leader is responsible for facilities, maintenance, Safety & Security strategic and tactical planning, implementation and evaluation for SBG. Additionally, the individual is responsible for effective communication systems among faculty, staff, administration, students and volunteers. This position is responsible for the identification, selection and application of appropriate technology resources to support SBG units and the University goals for instruction, research, and public service. Facilities, maintenance, information systems, Safety & Security services provided under the leadership of this position meet University standards for design, security, and delivery. The individual in this position will have some institutional scope as well as decision making responsibilities.

  • Applies advanced methods of operations, maintenance, facilities, information systems, and safety & security fields.

Operations, Facilities, Safety & Security

  • Direct, facilitate and supervise all development and implementation of all operations, facilities, and safety & security strategies.
  • Manage facility and information system staff to identify, trouble shoot and work with Facility Maintenance Department (FMD) to address facility issues, construction, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Assists with special and capital projects.
  • Develops and coordinates the SBG operation plans, emergency preparedness, business continuity, and any other safety and security measures.
  • Work with other UGA departments and external partners to ensure emergency safety plans are in place, up to date, and communicated within the unit and externally to other units and partners.
  • Serve as telephone representative and inventory control manager for SBG. This includes seeking out and acquiring surplus equipment that may become available from other units.

Duties/Responsibilities
Systems:

  • Direct, facilitate and support development of strategic and tactical planning.
  • Develop and manage information systems to support programs and services across all SBG departments through appropriate blend of local and central systems.
  • Develop and manage strategy and budget for maintenance, information systems, and safety & security. This includes managing IT staff.
  • Create opportunities for collaboration among professionals, faculty, staff, and students for the unit.
  • Research, design and implement appropriate technology applications to support communications, access to information, improved productivity, instruction, and evaluation.
  • Lead and or participate in PSO and other committees, forums, or councils supporting the continuous improvement of technology and administrative operations for SBG and University.
  • Supervise the development and maintenance for appropriate disaster plans (system back up and recovery procedures) and security (firewalls and antivirus protection).
  • Serve as unit contact for technical issues from PSO, EITS and other external sources regarding technology security, policies, and procedures.

  • Manage all SBG evaluation data collection and reporting for Public Service and Outreach as well as the university and external indicators.
