You'll develop and implement commodity strategies, align development deliverables, benchmark suppliers, negotiate agreements, and resolve delivery, cost, and supply chain challenges. Navigating a highly visible and dynamic environment, your strategic expertise in implementing initiatives will support material availability, quality, and cost to maintain Lam's reliability and competitive edge.

What You'll Do
  • The Strategic Commodity Manager - Chemicals will be integral to the development of cutting-edge, early-stage technical projects within the Deposition Product Group, providing the process development teams access to novel and disruptive materials for thin film deposition. The self-motived candidate will plan, organize and control business/contracts/negotiations for strategic sourcing of ALD/CVD precursor chemicals within the Deposition Product Group. This role will be responsible for driving supplier contract management, conducting supplier negotiations, and analytically formulating and executing comprehensive supplier management strategies based on semiconductor technology landscapes and global business environments within the various dry deposition product lines.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to identify new opportunities for process chemistry to generate uniquely disruptive industry solutions. Accelerates chemical sourcing into Lam, works to resolve issues with pricing, availability, timelines, and specifications of sourced chemicals.
  • Develops relationships with chemical suppliers to deliver new chemicals for evaluation as aligned with company needs. Brings continuous improvement to Lam's and end user's chemical supply chain to benefit product roadmaps.
  • Provides tactical and strategic insights into suppliers' and customers' product development roadmaps and supply chains, and shares input with key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate most supplier Global Agreement negotiations, renegotiations and contract addendums. Negotiate performance-based, preferred supplier agreements, to provide incentive for continuous supplier improvement.
  • Represents strategic commodity management on a cross-functional strategic team that focuses on supply challenges and ensures internal/external customer needs are satisfied. Works cross-functionally with product development, finance, and business development teams to deliver holistic solutions.
  • Define and monitor metrics in line with operational objectives relative to supplier performance against these expectations to ensure continuous supplier improvement; then drives team to address and close gaps to meet objectives
  • This role will be responsible for driving supplier contract management, conducting supplier negotiations, and analytically formulating and executing comprehensive supplier management strategies based on semiconductor technology landscapes and global business environments within the various dry deposition product lines.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering. An advanced degree in chemistry or chemical engineering (MS, PhD) is strongly preferred.Experience in chemical development and/or synthesis. Semiconductor industry or global supplier experience is a plus, with a focus on semiconductor process development strongly preferred.Three to five (3-5) years of experience in Supply Chain, Program Management, or Account Management is strongly preferred.Requires excellent analytical and written/oral communication skills with ability to communicate cross-functionally and with various levels of the organization including executivesPrevious project management experience and knowledge of basic project management conceptsExperience with continuity planning and risk mitigation development with suppliersInfluence skills:Experienced negotiator with the ability to communicate critical thinking ideas and concepts.Capable of developing and delivering compelling arguments and presentations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and business processes.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
