Position Summary

The Family
and Child Studies Program in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the
University of New Mexico invites applications for a Lecturer II or III position
in the Family and Child Studies Program beginning in the Fall semester of the
2025-2026 academic year. The positions may commence as early as August 2025,
but shall remain open until filled.

The expected teaching load for the
position is four courses per semester. Salary will be commensurate with
experience and education. Applicants must be a qualified
professional who has completed all requirements except the dissertation for the
terminal degree and holds a Master's degree in a related area, or a terminal
degree by appointment/or application date with specialization in Family &
Child Studies, or related field (e.g., Early Childhood Education, Human
Development and Family Sciences, Special Education, Literacy) by the
appointment start date

The UNM
College of Education and Human Sciences, comprised of five academic
departments, is a future-oriented, dynamic professional school. The Department
of Individual, Family and Community Education is one of the largest departments
in the college with the uniqueness of having Counselor Education, Educational Psychology,
Family and Child Studies, and Nutrition/Dietetics together as an academic unit.
The department has both undergraduate and graduate programs.

UNM is the

The Family and Child Studies Program is partnering with ADVANCE at
UNM, an NSF Institutional Transformation grant, to help recruit and retain an

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified professional who has completed all requirements except the dissertation for the terminal degree and holds a Master's degree in a related area, or a terminal degree by appointment/or application date with specialization in Family & Child Studies, or related field (e.g., Early Childhood Education, Human Development and Family Sciences, Special Education, Literacy) by the appointment start date

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year experience teaching and/or field supervision in early childhood or related area at the college or university undergraduate level.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in early childhood, including courses focused on pedagogy, methods, and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and supervise students in teacher preparation programs and partner with teachers and school administration.
  • Experience teaching hybrid and online courses.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
  • Potential for assuming an active role in all program activities including accreditation, community outreach, and facilitating and maintaining program protocol.
