About This Role

Primarily responsible for the handling and storage of evidence as well as facility operations and maintenance. This position is responsible for maintaining a central repository for all evidence entering the Denver facility. Relevant data must be entered and maintained near real-time in ESi's artifact database. This position also provides operational support for laboratory testing, preparation, and breakdown. Provides technical support capabilities including fixture design and fabrication, mechanical, structural, electrical, safety, automotive and audio/visual services. Possesses exemplary interpersonal skills, able to work with a wide variety of personalities. Capable of managing multiple tasks, with multiple staff members. Capable of identifying areas of optimization within an organization and is successful at implementation of planned improvements. Studies, records, tests, repairs, calibrates, develops and improves processes, products, and equipment; Assists in application of principles, methods, and techniques by performing the following duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing evidentiary materials while adhering to procedures including protocol, evidence packaging, and proper completion of database information.
  • Responsible for the receipt, retention, and disposition of evidence including packaging and shipping coordination of artifacts with clients and external vendors.
  • Maintenance of electronic artifact handling database.
  • Occasional travel to incident locations to document artifacts and scene.
  • Maintains laboratory and warehouse cleanliness and organization.
  • Assists Engineering and Technical staff in formulating tests, calibration of equipment, and general support.
  • Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to evaluate and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, orders, installs and repairs equipment in Denver operations including all relevant laboratory equipment.
  • Supports consultants in project work involving lab facilities and lab equipment.
  • Supports inspections via basic documentation and hands-on assistance.
  • Capable of communicating/working directly with internal and external clients.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

Computer Skills

  • Intermediate/advanced skills in Excel and Intermediate/advanced skills in Word; Internet software skills.
  • CAD or computer graphics experience a plus.
  • Will be working on advanced-level software products to operate equipment. Prior knowledge of these systems a plus, but not required.

Other Skills/Abilities or Other Qualifications

  • Experience handling artifacts preferred
  • Knowledge of laboratory and facility safety practices
  • Knowledge of digital photography and image handling a plus
  • Assesses own strengths and development areas; pursues training and development opportunities; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; shares expertise with others
