Job Summary

**This position is at our Bayfront location, in San Francisco, CA.**
**This shift for this position is 10hr days/M-F**


The Bayfront Medical Building is critical to support UCSF Health Operations and to serve a growing patient demand, including an increasing demand for outpatient surgery. The new five-story, 182,800-square-foot clinical building, will include an ambulatory surgery center, same-day care, adult primary and secondary multi-specialty clinics, and a pharmacy.

The Surgical Technologist assists in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and functions as a surgical team member during operative procedures.

All patient care team members are responsible to meet patient needs, demonstrate willingness to learn new skills, and foster a harmonious work environment in which high-quality patient care and customer service is consistently provided.

Team members promote a cooperative working relationship with each other, physicians, other disciplines and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to cultural differences, and expressing and accepting feedback professionally.

Department Description

The UCSF Bayfront Operating Room (OR) consists of 14 surgical suites and 2 procedural rooms with 23 hours surgical stay facility. Our primary focus is multidisciplinary team-based approach and staffing, advanced technology, including integrated suites and robotic surgery.

Services include, but are not limited to: Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck (OHNS), Urology, Benign Gynecology, Plastics, Pain Service, and General Surgery with Robotics.

Required Qualifications


  • Two years recent scrubbing clinical experience in an operating room setting, (in-patient or out-patient)
  • Recent experience (within the last two years) scrubbing in the at least three of the following service lines: Pain/Spine, Ophthalmology, GYN, GU, General Surgery, OHNS, Robotics and Plastics
  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least two of the surgical specialties listed above
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR for healthcare providers
  • Graduate of surgical technologist training program or equivalent experience
  • High School Diploma; or equivalent experience
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

Preferred Qualifications


  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist
  • Scrub experience in Ophthalmology, OHNS, Robotics

License/Certification


  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR for healthcare providers
