Organizational Unit Overview
ECU's Department of Physician Assistant Studies is a 27-month, master-level curriculum and is accredited by the ARC-PA. It is one of eight departments in the College of Allied Health Sciences ( CAHS) and is in a state-of-the-art building on the health science campus in Greenville, NC, along with the College of Nursing and the Laupus Medical Library. The College of Allied Health Sciences is the first and largest college of allied health sciences in North Carolina and graduates the most allied health professionals in the state. The College has a strong working relationship with the ECU Brody School of Medicine, ECU College of Nursing, the East Carolina Heart Institute, ECU Department of Family Medicine, and the School of Dental Medicine. East Carolina University (approximately 27,000 students) is an integral part of ECU Health, the regional medical center that serves 29 counties.
ECU is located in Greenville, NC, which is the cultural, educational, medical, and economic center of Eastern NC. The Greenville/Pitt County area has a population of approximately 175,000. Greenville is an ideal, family-oriented community that caters to outdoor and sports enthusiasts. Greenville is 45 miles from I-95 and just over an hour from the capital city of Raleigh. Emerald Isle, the Outer Banks, and Wilmington are easily accessible for day trips. A few noteworthy features of the area follow:

Job Duties
East Carolina University's ( ECU) Department of Physician Assistant Studies ( PADP) welcomes applications for a full-time, fixed-term faculty position at the level of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or full Clinical Professor, commensurate with qualifications. The selected candidate will be a clinical coordinator with didactic teaching responsibilities in the curriculum. The successful candidate will also be an active part of recruiting, student advising, self-study for ongoing accreditation, and other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

The candidate's primary responsibility will be to serve as a clinical coordinator who develops and delivers clinical curricula, but the successful candidate will also have teaching responsibilities in the didactic year as his or her workload permits. With specific regard to the main duties of a clinical coordinator, they will: Recruit new clinical rotation sites; maintain and foster the development of current rotation sites; maintain ongoing assessments of current or pending rotation sites; design, revise, implement, coordinate, and evaluate curricula; identify students who are not achieving course or Program objectives and formulate a plan of remediation; and create, review, and/or revise end-of-rotation examinations as needed. The selected candidate will be required to participate in a variety of other responsibilities, including providing academic counseling as a faculty advisor to assigned PA students; participating in committee appointments; participating in the process of selecting potential students for the Program; assisting in the ongoing self-study process to maintain accreditation; participating in continuing education and professional development programs; contributing to the administration and evaluation of the Program as assigned; and fulfilling other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

The position will include occasional travel (day trips) within a two-hour radius. The selected candidate will serve as a clinical coordinator and have a didactic role, with opportunities to assist in didactic courses and expectations to lecture and assist in different practical evaluations, lab experiences, and simulated patient scenarios throughout the year as his or her workload permits.

Minimum Education/Experience
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; work efficiently and effectively in both an independent setting and as part of a team, and develop working relationships with students, peers, administration, and community.
A minimum of 3 years experience in patient care as a physician assistant or physician.
Completion of an ARC-PA accredited program or its successors or predecessors.
A master's degree or higher in a related field, certification as a phy6sicianassistant by the NCCPA.
Demonstrated careful attention to detail, high organizational and networking skills, and dedication to being a team player.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
Current, unrestricted license as a physician assistant by the North Carolina Medical Board or eligibility for licensure.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Previous clinical coordinating experience within academia is also desirable but not necessary.
