Team / Division Overview

DWS offers individuals and institutions access to strong investment capabilities across all major asset classes and solutions aligned to growth trends. The business has a diverse expertise in Active and Passive public market strategies, as well as a range of Alternatives strategies spanning Real Estate, Infrastructure and Alternative Credit investment management. Global real estate AuM stands at roughly c.$80bn, of which c.$35bn is invested in the US, split across co-mingled funds and large SMA's for leading institutional clients.

DWS Group is currently searching for a highly motivated team player to join as a Senior Relationship Manager, US Real Estate Debt Specialist. Based in New York, the candidate will report directly into the Global Head of Alternatives Specialists, and will be part of a team effort responsible for all aspects of capital raising and product development/strategy for DWS Groups' US real estate debt activities.

The candidate will support the capital raising efforts, as well as development and rollout of new investment offerings in the US, working in collaboration with members of DWS' investment teams and wider international group, whilst leveraging their own industry and investor contacts. The role will include close involvement in the formulation and maintenance of investment marketing strategies, processes and materials, participating in interactions with prospective and existing investors and consultants, involvement with co-investment processes and establishment of separately managed accounts, gathering of market intelligence, participation in internal and external brand-building events, as well as a wide range of ad hoc investor relations processes and activities. Along with a preference for prior knowledge of the wider private markets alternative industry, the candidate must be a team player, be highly detail orientated and have strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

Role Details

As a Senior Relationship Manager you will (be):

  • Working in close conjunction with the US, European and Asian relationship management and commercial real estate (CRE) debt investment colleagues to further enhance existing investor relationships, help identify new investor leads, and follow through on prospects

  • Cultivate and help manage business relationships with the institutional investor community and their consultants/advisors, with responsibility for supporting long term relationships with key decision makers

  • Raise the profile of DWS's CRE debt business internally as a 'product champion' and externally through creation of effective marketing communications

  • Collaborate with team members to develop and maintain fundraising and due diligence materials such as memorandums, pitch books, investors presentations, due diligence questionnaires and other ad hoc correspondence

  • Work across functions to obtain and synthesize information from the investment, ESG, reporting and accounting teams in order to prepare investor communication materials

  • Work closely with in-house product and legal teams to coordinate new product design, structuring, and launch

  • Manage due diligence processes and ensure successful outcomes

  • Collaborate with senior distribution colleagues when determining best solutions to put forward for new business opportunities and selection of 'pitch teams' for finalist manager selection meetings

  • Keep abreast of industry trends and DWS's performance to provide information updates and trend analysis to clients and colleagues

  • Remain knowledgeable of market and industry trends, competitors, and leading client strategies

  • Deliver thought leadership presentations at appropriately selected industry conferences

We are looking for:

  • Strong experience in investor relations and product strategy, with a track record of institutional capital formation for commercial real estate debt

  • Deep knowledge and appreciation of alternative investment strategies and broader asset allocation. Experience in private real estate across debt and equity is paramount

  • BA/BS degree, or equivalent

  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to understand all investment nuances but also be able to translate complex investment strategies into an investor-friendly format

  • Must be detail-oriented and have an analytical mindset with the ability to deliver key insights

License(s) required:

  • Series 7 and 63

The salary range for this position in New York City, Chicago or Boston is $126,000 to $260,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration.
