Position Overview:

Operate and maintain the Deicer Management Facility (DMF), along with the Stormwater Management System (SMS), at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (KCVG) and complete specific tasks associated with the state-of-the-art processes to support management of stormwater runoff and ensure compliance with Amazon's Kentucky Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (KPDES) permit limits. The treatment system includes automated analyzers, pumps, and associated appurtenances. The waste water pre-treatment system includes anaerobic fluidized digestion beds, dissolved air flotation, sludge centrifuge, automated analyzers, air compressor, and methane flare. Both systems include analyzers and PLCs and are monitored and controlled through a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) network.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

* Learns to operate wastewater treatment plant by performing job duties under direction of licensed operator; tours plant and ensures plant operates within regulatory guidelines; confers with licensed operators as necessary when collecting samples, observing meters, adding chemicals, recording readings, etc.;

* Pumps primary sludge from settlers to digester; skims scum and grease from settling tanks; replaces chlorine cylinders and regulates as instructed the chemical feed (chlorine, bleach, ferrous, bisulfate, polymer, etc.); starts and stops and assists in making minor repairs to pumps, mixers, motors and equipment;

* Performs basic laboratory tests; confers with management as necessary to make appropriate adjustments;

* Maintains records and prepares reports related to plant operation and activities;

* Visually inspects equipment to ensure proper operating condition; checks motors, pumps, blowers, valves, compressors, screens, filters, and other equipment to identify routine operating problems; performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment; notifies proper authority of major malfunctions or mechanical break downs;

Required Skills and Experience:

* Must be at least 18 years old;

* High school diploma or equivalent preferred;

* Work in a team setting with other employees;

* Communicates with the public, regulators, and elected officials regarding inquires and complaints;

* Performs other duties as required by Management;

* Communicates with public, suppliers and industries regarding inquiries and complaints;

* Provide guidance to non-certified operator;

* A valid driver's license is required for this position.

Work Environment:

* The employee: has exposure to noisy operations or activities; compressed gases; hand and portable tools; human blood or other potentially infectious materials; hazardous chemicals; hot, cold, wet, humid and windy weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

* It is expected that the candidate be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;

* Position involves standing or sitting for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;

* Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds occasionally;

* Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment;

* Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently;

* Must have the ability to climb 15-foot heights for work;

* Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus;

* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;

* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations;

* May be required to move, connect, disconnect hoses and be able to operate industrial valves and perform general labor duties.
