  GENERAL DESCRIPTION
 
 
  
 The background investigation process may take up to 6 weeks depending upon the complexity of the applicant's background and position for which they've applied. Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is seeking to fill a vacancy of Licensed Practical Nurse. 
 This position is scheduled 12-hour shifts, 7pm-7am, alternating a 3- and 4-day workweek.
 
 $5,000.00 hiring bonus with three or more years' experience. $3,000.00 hiring bonus with less than 3 years' experience.
 
 Up to four years' experience pay.
 
 1 year experience = $28.28 per hour
 
 2 years' experience = $29.06 per hour
 
 3 years' experience = $29.84 per hour
 
 4 years' experience = $30.63 per hour
 
 Tuition Loan Forgiveness Program up to $10,000.00 with proof of student loan. Receive $2,500.00 upon signing and $2,500.00 each year for up to 3 additional years.
 
 Under the general direction supervision of the Assistant Director of Nursing, Clinical Supervisor, and/or Registered Nurse, within the license scope, this position evaluates inmates' healthcare needs, and provides necessary and appropriate nursing care while observing all security requirements. Work is reviewed through observation and results obtained.

 Carries out designated nursing procedures, including administration of medications, assisting in the planning and formulation of nursing care plans; observes records and reports symptoms, reactions and changes in the conditions of all inmates; provides care based upon inmate need/conditionAssists with activities of daily living with special attention to therapeutic significance; triage inmates for sick call; refer inmates to an RN or upper level provider; render care and treatment according to protocolAttends staff meetings; attends educational classes as required by the license as well as accreditation standards; assists with the orientation of new membersAssists the MD/DO/PA/NP with sick call and minor surgical procedures when necessary; responsible for implementation of physician's orders as directedUtilizes problem oriented medical record (SOAP format) to document all inmate contacts; maintains confidentiality of all inmate healthcare interactionsMaintains logs and prepares accurate statistics and other reports as directed; assists with the reordering and stocking of supplies; maintains a clean work areaResponds to emergencies with all necessary equipmentRegular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of the positionThis position is considered essential and, in the event of an emergency or natural disaster, will be required to report to workParticipates in Sheriff's Office recruitment and community relations activities as directed

  QUALIFICATIONS
 
 
  
 
   
 High School graduation or equivalent diploma from an institution accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) or licensed as a degree granting institution by the Commission for Independent EducationGraduation from an accredited LPN programLicensed as a LPN in the State of FloridaMaintain appropriate, unrestricted credentials according to the licensure, certification, and registration requirements of the jurisdictionSatisfactory completion of 30 + hour IV CertificationCPR - BLS or ACLS CertificationMust possess a valid Florida driver's licenseConsideration for this position requires a credit check
