Production Supervisor

Job Description

The Production Supervisor's role in our organization is to provide support and direction to front line production personnel. The list below details many of the expectations for this role. Other duties and responsibilities may be required or assigned as needed to support our team members and business needs:

  • Supervise, coordinate, facilitate, and provide leadership to employees directly or through team leads. Leadership experience in a union environment preferred, but not required.
  • Outline work procedures and assign duties to meet departmental and Company requirements. Ability to communicate clearly these expectations and procedures to team members.
  • Provide daily leadership and direction to employees - coach, provide feedback and support as needed.
  • Train, advise, and counsel employees on work processes and procedures; as well as company policies.
  • Regulate work flow to ensure maximum use of capacity and efficiency within department. Work with other supervisors and production management to ensure efficient staff placement to fill gaps and meet customer demand.
  • Ensure project and assignments remain consistent with company practices, policies, and regulations (for example: SOX, OSHA, Management System Standards)
  • Interact and support all internal and external customers and set standards that promote good relations and communication.
  • Research, troubleshoot problems, and implement corrective actions to allow continuous improvement. Understand and use 5S and Lean principles to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Promote the concept of individual responsibility for quality work and workmanship standards.
  • Track and monitor departmental and individual performance objectives and standards.
  • Participate in periodic audits to ensure compliance to company standards.
  • Participate in recruiting, selection, and development of all operations personnel through feedback, coaching and disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Able to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to details. Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks, have good organizational skills and a high level of energy.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels throughout the organization. Interact with team members from all departments.
  • Possess computer skills and able to use e-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel. Experience with ADP and Kronos a plus. Ability to learn other proprietary systems will also be required.
  • Professional attitude and demeanor; problem-solving and prioritization skills.

Skills & Qualifications

Educational / Experience / Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (10+ years) experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience within manufacturing; preferably electronics and aerospace manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Prefer Six Sigma Green Belt certification, but not required.
