ACCOUNTING CLERK

Reports to Regional Director of Finance: position is non-exempt

THE ROLE

We are in search for a versatile team player for our Finance team. This position is a champion within the hotel Finance department and is responsible for understanding and adhering to GAAP compliance and alignment with the AHLA Uniform System of Accounts. This position ensures the accuracy and timeliness of deadline-oriented tasks within the Finance department. It is crucial that this role position themselves as a partner in the hotel for support on company accounting processes, procedures, tasks, and practices. The Accounting Clerk reports to the Regional Director of Finance and collaborates closely with their peers on the Aparium Finance team to ensure the execution of financially sound business practices.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Model and implement the company's Art + Science ideologies to ensure the experiences of translocal hospitality, intuitive service and collaboration
  • Actively participate in the execution of Finance tasks; including invoice processing, journal entries, reconciling invoices to purchase orders, organizing night audit packets, publishing daily reports, processing credit applications, processing advance deposits, managing event invoices, and responding to guest and vendor inquiries
  • Uphold the company's values and guidelines for a fostering a respectful workplace which encourages a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment
  • Assist with the execution of accounting and finance procedures, practices and policies for the hotel, ensuring required deadlines are met
  • Partner and collaborate with the various hotel departments necessary to promote the efficient, effective, and timely completion of accounting activities
  • Adhere to and promote legal and finance compliance initiatives, policies, and procedures (including SOX, PCI and other legal financial reporting); and ensure adherence to Aparium policies and procedures and all applicable laws
  • Oversee the hotel's Accounts Payable process, and ensure invoices are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with the hotel standard operating procedures
  • Communicate in a timely and effective manner with hotel guests and vendors
  • Ensure files are maintained in a neat and organized manner
  • Assist with office supply ordering
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned



WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • A passion for the People, Place and Character of our community
  • An affinity for accounting, working with numbers, and working with others in a hotel environment
  • At least two years hospitality or accounting/finance experience; or comparable combination of education and experience
  • Experience with bookkeeping or accounts payable
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • The ability to work well without direct supervision
  • The ability to maintain integrity, confidentiality and discretion
  • The ability to work in a safe, prudent and highly organized manner
  • Strong oral and written skills in the English language
  • An aptitude to guide and monitor business ethics and good business practice
  • Conduct oneself in a most professional manner at all times to reflect the hotel standards
  • Experience working with property management systems, Infor experience being a plus
  • The ability to lift, balance and carry up to 30 lbs. to transport money, file boxes, etc.
  • The ability to sit for prolonged periods of time in an office environment
  • The ability to typically work 24 hours a week during the daytime between Monday and Friday, with the willingness to work a flexible schedule at times to assist with "month-end" responsibilities and tasks to ensure accuracy
