How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
The Senior Analyst, eCommerce Search will help the team maximize the online 'search experience' for our digital properties. This position leverages search optimization techniques and technology, and applies to each of Airgas existing search environments. Reporting to the Manager, eCommerce Search, this position will collaborate with internal business partners wanting to maximize the search experience for each of their customer segments by monitoring, reporting and analyzing search activity that helps guide the team to make enhancements that continue to deliver a satisfying search experience to our customers as their expectations change over time.
In particular, you will:
- Serve as the subject matter expert of our search toolsets and continuously identify opportunities for improvements to our search tools and algorithms used
- Support the development and implementation of our search roadmap
- Help define development requirements to support the enhancement of the shopping experience working with Digital Product Management & Development teams
- Continuously monitor search platform (Solr/FindTuner) roadmap/new features and champion the usage of new functionalities/techniques that will improve search performance and effectiveness
- Leverage research, including but not limited to voice of customer research, to identify key search experience opportunities
- Collaborate with Merchandising and UX designers to:- Devise, document and test new or revised search strategies to support individual category and/or customer segment needs
- Create and execute onsite search merchandising activities that can be shared across multiple products/categories
- Position products and promotions that are relevant to the customer and that ultimately drive both wallet share expansion and net new revenue growth via onsite search
- Understand, analyze and optimize customer journey conversion paths (look to buy vs. look to cart vs. cart to buy)
- Create and modify dynamic search-related landing pages to support an improved onsite experience

- Investigate user search queries and behavior, analyze win and loss patterns
- Monitor all facets of onsite search related activity (triggers, rules, biases, etc), analyze individual effectiveness, and recommend rules, facet management, thesaurus entries, redirects and more to improve relevance and ranking
- Maintain a "cross platform" approach in identifying, assessing, and executing any search optimization / tuning opportunity
- Partner with the Merchandising and Analytics team to design and build search metrics / scorecard which provides visibility to the overall "health" of search
- Work closely with multiple teams (SEM, Email, Product Merchandising, Personalization) to develop, implement and evolve onsite search & merchandising processes that can be scaled to meet customer demands
- Collaborate with data analysts, developers and others in a cross-functional team to resolve problems
- Partner with IT/Dev team members to ensure high performing, high availability search environment

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced and analytical eCommerce Search Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing the search functionality on our e-commerce platform, ensuring an effective and seamless shopping experience for our customers. This role requires strong analytical skills, technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of e-commerce business, search trends and best practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyze eCommerce search customer journey to identify patterns, trends, and areas for improvement

  • Monitor and report on key search metrics, including but not limited to search volume, click-through rates, no search results, conversion rates, bounce rates, average time spent on each search, percentage of searches that result in a purchase, average order value, customer retention rate, shopping cart abandonment rate, and customer lifetime value

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as customer analytics, digital merchandising and IT.

  • Conduct A/B testing and experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of search optimizations.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends in eCommerce search.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, or a related field

Required Length & Type of Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in eCommerce and online business analytics

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, SQL, Python, Pandas, Matplotlib, NumPy, Javascript and HTML

  • Experience with various data collection methods, data cleansing, and data wrangling

  • Knowledge of eCommerce platforms and search technologies is a plus

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to translate data into actionable insights

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Other Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail for accuracy in data analysis and reporting

  • Adaptability to changes in the e-commerce landscape and new technologies

  • Understanding of eCommerce search trends and best practices

  • Relevant certifications in data analysis, web analytics, or eCommerce platforms (preferred but not required)
