ob Title: Medical Director Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid - Onsite 3 days per week) Job Type: Full-Time Reports To: Head of HSE Job Overview The Medical Director will oversee the health and medical policies for an oil and gas client, ensuring the highest standards of healthcare for employees both onshore and offshore. This role includes managing medical personnel, establishing health policies, supervising medical service providers, and providing medical case management and oversight. Key Responsibilities Health & Medical Policy Development
- Develop and maintain company-wide health policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices.
- Provide medical expertise to HSE, HR, Legal, Compliance, and executive teams.
- Oversee employee health programs, including health education, wellness initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
Medical Oversight & Case Management
- Act as the final escalation point for all medical cases requiring onshore management.
- Supervise and provide governance for medical personnel across offshore and onshore operations.
- Oversee medical assessments, fitness-for-work evaluations, and drug and alcohol testing programs.
Medical Services Provider Management
- Establish and maintain relationships with medical service contractors.
- Ensure clinical care meets national and international best practices.
- Review and approve onsite medical professionals before deployment.
Emergency & Topside Medical Support
- Provide physician-level supervision for offshore and remote medical operations.
- Review medical case reports and ensure adherence to industry regulations.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Establish medical service delivery standards and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor medical operations performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Address medical complaints or malpractice issues.
Business Support & Leadership
- Support business development by advising on medical aspects of client proposals and projects.
- Represent the company at industry forums and health-related events.
- Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to medical teams.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Medical Doctor (MD) with full registration and licensure.
- Minimum 5 years of post-graduate experience.
- Experience in offshore, oil and gas, or industrial environments preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management experience.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with HSE, HR, and executive teams.
Preferred:
- Certification in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Occupational Health.
- Postgraduate qualification in healthcare management, preventative health, or public health.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance medical needs with business objectives.
- Knowledge of industry regulations (IADC, OGUK) and fitness-for-work standards.
Work Environment & Travel
- Hybrid work schedule (onsite 3 days per week).
- International and offshore travel may be required.
- Flexible work hours, including availability during emergencies.
