JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Student Aid at Penn State Harrisburg is in search of a dynamic, creative, and student-centered professional to serve our students and families in the role of Financial Aid Advisor. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Student Aid & Veterans Affairs and is integral in providing timely, efficient, and accurate information to students and their families as the front-line staff member of the office.

Job Description:

  • Serve as front-line staff in advising current and prospective students and their families regarding the financial aid process, eligibility requirements, alternative funding sources

  • Troubleshooting student account issues

  • Responding to direct requests for information through phone, email, and assisting visitors to the office

  • Serve as secondary School Certifying Official. Assist VA Coordinator in reporting semesterly enrollment certifications and related changes, help maintain reporting processes, assist with audits as needed

  • Maintaining strategic communication plan to prospective, incoming, and current students

  • Assist in Student Aid and Veterans Affairs event planning

  • Present at recruitment and/or student aid and/or enrollment services events for prospective and current students on behalf of the University and/or campus

Typical Education & Experience :

  • 2 years of related experience

  • Associate's Degree

  • Oran equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Proficient in all standard computer applications (including Microsoft 365 Suite)

  • Adept at working closely with diverse student populations and using inclusive best practice

  • Ability to multi-task and balance multiple and shifting priorities

  • Demonstrate a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within higher education, particularly within student aid

  • Working knowledge of Federal and State aid policies and regulations

  • Experience as a School Certifying Official

  • Experience with creating outreach initiatives

  • Demonstrates a positive, inclusive, and welcoming disposition

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; proactive, organized, and attentive to detail

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and team-building skills

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
