JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Get the opportunity to explore Pennsylvania's forests through soil and vegetation sampling for the Deer-Forest Project (https://www.deer.psu.edu/)! This position is part of the interdisciplinary Deer-Forest study, which examines factors affecting forest health across Pennsylvania's State Forests. This position will entail field work in central area of the state and involves collection and identification of soil and plant samples at forest plots. The individual will work on State Forests and at a University Park lab. Laboratory work can involve sample preparation, laboratory sample processing and analysis, regular laboratory maintenance duties, and data entry. Requires the ability to work in an outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. This position will entail hiking and backpacking of samples out of the field. Transportation is included.

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
