JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, in the Townsend Lab, in Hershey, PA is seeking a Research Technologist - Life Sciences - Professional. The successful candidate will conduct experiments that explore how the gut microbiota adapt to changes in the mammalian gastro-intestinal environment and will help maintain an organized and orderly laboratory. This is an excellent opportunity to develop new skills in laboratory microbiological practices, bacterial genetics, and molecular biology. Meticulous organizational and record keeping habits are required and strong verbal communication skills are preferred. A familiarity with standard molecular techniques such as nucleic acid purification, Western blotting, and PCR is beneficial. Ideal candidates will have experience with sterile technique and Microsoft Office. This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding. The following clearances must be successfully completed for this position:
