JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Center for Innovative Materials Processing through Direct Digital Deposition (CIMP-3D), a world-class resource for advancing and deploying additive manufacturing (AM) technology for critical applications operated by the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State, is seeking Research Engineering Undergraduate Interns.

Highly-motivated students will be expected to conduct and support research on one or more government or industry-sponsored programs. Research areas may include:

  • Materials characterization
  • Non-destructive evaluation and testing of materials
  • Development of sensing and control systems
  • Optics
  • Data analysis
  • Investigation of process physics
  • Component design and engineering
  • System integration.
  • The specific research area will be agreed upon by you and your supervisor.

Full time, undergraduate students in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Science and Mechanics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Sciences, and Industrial Engineering are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours/week over the summer. This is a paid internship located at 230 Innovation Boulevard on the University Park Campus; relocation and housing are not provided.

Candidate selected may be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
