Description

The Project Manager will oversee budget preparation, scheduling, timelines, materials procurement, staffing and for various construction and repair projects. Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple options for how to progress with the project. Oversee corporate-wide equipment, making sure all divisions are getting the equipment needed to continue operations without any interruption. This position reports directly to the Corporate Production Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must oversee all assigned projects from start to finish to ensure that projects are completed in a satisfactory manner and stay on time and within budget
  • Oversee the proper installation of equipment
  • Facilitate a positive and productive work environment for all parties involved in assigned projects and ensure that they are working together, communicating, and sharing necessary information
  • May be responsible for overseeing multiple ongoing projects at once and is expected to be able to stay organized and manage their time
  • Communicate with key stakeholders, including members of Corporate and Division Management, to determine project requirements and objectives prior to and during the carrying out of assigned projects
  • Identify and make recommendations on new projects that will lead to improvements in Company processes related to safety, regulatory compliance and production
  • Identify and coordinate all aspects of assigned projects, including permitting, materials procurement, internal and external staffing, subcontractors, testing, commissioning, etc.
  • Prepare cost budgets for projects by obtaining bids, estimating costs based on construction standard costs, estimating labor hours, applying applicable fees, permit costs, taxes, etc.
  • Prepare and update Gantt charts for projects based on input from the Corporate Production Manager
  • Closely monitor project milestones to ensure that projects are being completed on schedule, and notify the Corporate Production Manager about any known or potential time delays for projects
  • Ensure all assigned projects comply with all regulatory and building codes and standards
  • Work directly with permitting bodies and consultants to ensure permits for projects are filed properly and expeditiously
  • Prepare and submit weekly written reports on the status of all ongoing projects
  • Responsible for answering and addressing any questions, concerns, and/or complaints throughout each assigned project
  • Supervise department staff to meet performance expectations and review and approve all department staff time cards and time off requests
  • Assist with department hiring, discipline, wage increases, and promoting of department staff
  • Ensures the proper spare equipment is on hand for the necessary divisions
  • Review all blueprints and work for technical accuracy
  • Compare blueprints with outside contractor proposals
  • Review and negotiate contracts from outside vendors and subcontractors
  • Review quotes and communicates necessary information to the Corporate Production Manager, COO and CEO
  • Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner
  • Follow department and company procedures
  • Keep up regular attendance and punctuality; regular attendance and punctuality are essential for the smooth operation of this company
  • Other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business. These responsibilities may change from time to time are business needs evolve over time.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Professional Certifications, Education, Experience and Travel Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4 years of Engineering experience, Mechanical preferred
  • years of project management experience with 3 years of direct supervisory experience
  • Must be able to read and use AutoCAD/AutoCAD Plant 3D latest version
  • Knowledge of Navisworks and extracting BOMs is a plus
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Proficient in writing and speaking in English. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing
  • Maintains a safe working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Ability to identify various types of welding processes
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, particularly MS Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Must have an excellent work ethic, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
  • Valid California Driver's License with an acceptable MVR
  • Ability to travel as needed up to 30% of the time with some overnight travel to other Divisions

Physical Demands/Requirements

Constantly (over 2/3):

  • Communicates with customers, contractors co-workers and exchanges accurate information in-person, telephonically and via electronic devices/e-mail
  • Moves throughout manufacturing facilities with uneven and variable surfaces
  • Detects and observes equipment in need of repair
  • Operates computer and other office productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine and printer
  • Review documents, organizes data and detects accuracy of information

Frequently (1/3-2/3):

  • Exposed to varying outdoor weather conditions
  • Moves throughout office accessing files, office machinery, etc.
  • Remains in a stationary position up to 50% or more of the time

Occasionally (under 1/3):

  • Moves materials or documents up to 25 lbs
