Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Broadband Plasma Division (BBP) provides market-leading patterned wafer optical inspection systems for leading-edge IC manufacturing. Logic, foundry, and memory customers depend on BBP products to detect yield-critical defects for process debug and excursion monitoring at advanced process nodes. BBP flagship products include the 29xx and 39xx series which leverage Broadband Plasma technology to capture a wide range of defects with ultimate sensitivity at the optical inspection speeds needed for inline defect monitoring.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Job Description

The Electrical Design Engineer will be a member of BBP EE teams to bring designs from the concept stage all the way to production. The design engineer will be involved in all phases of mixed signal printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) design, from specification development, through schematic capture, to testing prototype hardware and releasing designs to production.

Responsibilities:

  • Design high-performance mixed-signal PCB from concept to production release.

  • Work together with firmware engineer to bring-up the board.

  • Debug, diagnostic board related issues on system. Help MFG or field engineer identify the root cause of system failures.

  • Write technical documentation that meets the defined quality standards for manufacturing / service team as required.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in analog/digital circuit design process, include schematic, layout, board bring-up and release.

  • Experience with electrical interface design such as FPGA, ARM, DDR, AD/DA, PCIe, Fiber Optics, SPI, etc.

  • Strong hardware debug and diagnostic skills.

  • Proficiency with board design tools such as Orcad Capture, Allegro, etc.

  • Hands on experience with lab equipment like logic analyzer, oscilloscope, etc.

  • Understand the high-speed PCB design rules.

  • Experience with embedded or FPGA firmware design is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) or work experience of 0 years , Master's Level Degree or work experience of 2 years , Bachelor's Level Degree or work experience of 3 years
