About the Junge Lab: The Junge lab at the University of Minnesota Medical School (Twin Cities) is seeking a talented postdoctoral trainee with aspirations to become an independent scientist in academia or industry. We offer a personalized training plan tailored to your career goals. Our research focuses on neurovascular signaling, utilizing mouse genetics, molecular and protein-biochemical methods, cell biology, and various -omics methods. Currently, we are exploring pharmacological activation of Wnt and Norrin signaling to restore pericytes in the brain and retina. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments related to CNS angiogenesis, blood-brain barrier, and other neurovascular signaling, with a focus on mouse genetic approaches, imaging, and transcriptomics.
  • Independently carry out experiments from start to finish, troubleshoot, and optimize methods.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present complex experimental results, including performing statistical analyses.
  • Understand models of biological processes, derive appropriate predictions, and design/conduct experiments to test those predictions.
  • Prepare manuscripts and figures for publication.
  • Present work internally at the University of Minnesota and externally at scientific conferences, with training in scientific communication (presentations, papers, grants).
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, obtained within the last two years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of publications and in-depth knowledge in one or more of the following fields: Vascular Biology, Neuroscience, Ophthalmology, Mammalian Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, Signal Transduction, Extracellular Matrix Biology.
  • Hands-on experience working with mice.
  • Strong ability to conceptualize scientific projects and articulate them clearly and logically.
  • Demonstrated independence in conducting experiments, overcoming complex technical challenges, and driving scientific projects to successful completion in a self-motivated manner.
