POSITION SUMMARY: Dr. Manish Sagar's laboratory primarily aims to understand and develop ways to prevent mucosal HIV transmission. We investigate HIV transmission in various human cohorts to examine mechanisms of HIV-1 transmission, antibody effectiveness and virus evolution. The research program will focus on recent findings that highlight the importance of antibody dependent cellular cytotoxicity and concurrent diseases, such as mycobacterium tuberculosis.
