We are seeking a Marine Field Technician to join our team. In this role, you will conduct inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on MTU, Volvo Penta, and Detroit Diesel engines, ensuring peak performance for vessels across commercial, military, and emergency response sectors. This position demands a results-driven, analytical professional who thrives on solving complex technical issues and delivering top-tier service.

About the Role:

As a Marine Field Technician, you will:

  • Conduct inspections & diagnostic tests to assess engine and system performance.
  • Perform complete engine overhauls and additional repairs as identified during diagnostics.
  • Verify performance through test drives, sea trials, and system optimizations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic control systems on diesel engines.
  • Utilize warranty programs and evaluate service and parts options to maintain cost efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records.
  • Ensure a safe, organized work environment while adhering to company and industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with customers on-site to ensure satisfaction and clarity on service work.
  • Perform MTU engine commissioning trials and system optimizations.
What You Bring: Education & Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience working with large-bore marine diesel engines.
  • Extensive experience with MTU engines, MCS/RCS electronics, and Diasys software (preferred).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Technical schooling preferred).
Technical Skills:
  • Strong diagnostic abilities for diesel engine performance issues.
  • Proficiency with laptop/PC-based diagnostic tools.
  • Expertise in reading service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Experience with electrical multi-meters and diesel engine electronic controls.
  • Ability to complete repairs efficiently and independently.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Other Requirements:
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license and insurable under company policy.
  • Own a full set of mechanic's tools.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% within an assigned area (including potential international travel).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Competitive Pay: $30.00 - $41.00 per hour (based on experience).
  • Field Pay Bonus: Additional $1.50 per hour when working in the field.
