POSITION TITLE: Health & Wellness Maintenance Technician

DEPARTMENT: Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (Kroc Center Hawaii)

SUPERVISOR: Health & Wellness Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

CLASSIFICATION: Part-time, Hourly Rate $16.00

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Health & Wellness Maintenance Technician will coordinate and execute a preventive maintenance schedule for Health & Wellness equipment, prescribed by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) specifications, and in consultation with the center director. Such maintenance includes performing routine scheduled periodic cleaning, adjustment and lubrication, replacing cables or belts and vacuum dusting. In contact and consultation with OEM technicians, diagnose and repair center's equipment which may include unplugging and replacing electronic control boards or components, checking connections, and calibration or internal alignment of fitness and assorted cardio and strength equipment. Performs weekly preventive checks of all equipment, or at least twice monthly for possible repairs. Cleans equipment and performs general custodial duties, including detailing equipment, sweeping and/or mopping and high dusting.

The Health & Wellness Maintenance Technician will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  1. High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  2. Minimum of one year experience performing light maintenance, preferably with cardiovascular and strength training equipment.
  3. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.



Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  1. Responsible for maintenance and performance of all Health & Wellness equipment. Inspect equipment on routine schedule.
  2. Establish a preventive maintenance program for all equipment in consultation with the Health and Wellness Director and as prescribed by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) specifications.
  3. Perform routine repairs to cardiovascular and strength training equipment following O.E.M. specifications as well as other facility related equipment / systems as required.
  4. Complete all work orders and PM's as assigned and annotation and updating of work logs for specific requirements.
  5. Assist in identifying projects requiring the services of an outside contractor; assist in obtaining quotes and arranging for services of outside vendors as directed by Health & Wellness Director.
  6. Maintain and inventory a ready supply of routine maintenance and custodial supplies.
  7. Update MSDS as required.
  8. Assist in maintaining designated properties in compliance with applicable local, state and company rules, codes and regulations (OSHA, etc.).
  9. Troubleshoot and complete minor miscellaneous repairs; replaces light bulbs and ballasts; performs minor electrical, plumbing and mechanical repairs as may be required
  10. Follows oral and written instructions while communicating with Program Supervisors and Staff.
  11. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
  12. Maintain the Code of Ethics policy, which has been established for the Kroc Center Hawaii.
  13. Attend staff meetings and other administrative meetings.
  14. Maintain regular and punctual work attendance.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 50-75 pounds and occasionally more than 75 pounds. This employee may also be required to work weekends and evenings.

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:

The position requires talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, vendor; talking on the telephone; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, and vendors; requires training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other worksites; requires communication via the latest technologies.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee is regularly exposed to inside and outside work in all types of weather, i.e., wet and/or humid conditions, heat or cold and moving mechanical equipment. The employee will regularly be exposed to chemicals used while performing job duties.

EQUIPMENT NEEDS:

Equipment normally used in construction and maintenance including, but not limited to standard tools, screwdrivers, wrenches, vacuums, blowers and all chemicals associated with maintenance and cleaning.
