Summary:

The NGL Operations Shift Supervisor is responsible for the daily oversight of the operations of the Nederland NGL systems including Mariner South, Butane Expansion, Orbit Ethane, Flexport, and future expansion projects.

Responsibilities encompass safety, environmental stewardship, planning and assigning operations personnel for daily duties, overtime assignments, meeting ship and barge dock schedules and incident response. Successful candidate will also be responsible for managing multiple incoming/outgoing pipelines and coordinating operations with multiple departments, customers, outside contractors, and assisting the NGL Operations Manager to organize, plan, and direct daily NGL operations and maintenance. Supervisor will provide oversight to ensure quality product is received and delivered from the facility while minimizing downtime. He/she will be responsible for assisting the Operations Manager in the hiring and training of new employees and development of existing employees. Candidate must have the ability to complete projects within approved expenditure limits and estimated schedules. The supervisor ensures that all contractors, customers, and vendors follow Company Policies and Procedures when accessing or working in the Terminal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




    • Supervise the operations and Operators to ensure safety, mechanical integrity, environmental permits, and nominations are met.
    • Work a 12-hour, rotating shift and is subject to call-out in the event of emergency.
    • Work special assignment projects and turn arounds.
    • Facilitate O.Q. and PSM training and testing for all NGL Operations/technicians and facilitate all job specific NGL Operations/Technical Training.
    • Maintain and revise the NGL operating procedures per PSM and DOT regulations.
    • Champion the effort to have zero safety, vehicle, or environmental incidents within the NGL Operations.
    • Responsible for the overall safety of the terminal including the Lock-Out/Tag Out process, and compliance with other company policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate with the pipeline and crude maintenance supervisors, the reactive and predictive maintenance schedule for NGL terminal piping, tanks and custody transfer meter skids which includes planning, preparing, and administering DTR's with detailed work plans associated with NGL terminal operations.
    • Work closely with Mont Belvieu, Pipeline scheduling and Nederland scheduling to provide an uninterrupted and scheduled supply of product to NGL storage and/or docks, ensuring accurate measurement and sampling.
    • Monitor performance indicators and measurements relating to the productivity of employees and the efficient utilization of NGL terminal facilities.
    • Lead and/or participate in HES audits performed by internal/external customers including all regulatory audits/inspections for Nederland Terminal Operations.
    • Participate in customer contract reviews.
    • Maintain excellent customer service/relationships.
    • Emergency response activities including the incident command system.
    • Ensures operating parameters are within the limits of the design of the equipment.
    • Submit MOC's for approvals before any operational changes.


    Requirements:

    Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:



    • Knowledge of NGL operations, including pump, compressor, heater, pipeline, dehydrator, pipeline operations, and marine operations.
    • 8 + years operations experience.
    • 2+ years ops lead or supervisor experience in NGL.
    • Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Have a history of being dependable and reliable.
    • Good organizational skills, good customer relations skills, and a record of very positive work performance.
    • Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Office.
    • Must maintain a valid driver's license for the state of residence.
    • Must have and maintain or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).


    Working Conditions:

    • Works a 12 hour, rotating shift and is subject to call-out in the event of emergency.
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
    • Overnight travel may be required.
    • Position is based in industrial settings which may include hazardous materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
