Definition

An apprentice is a person at least 17 years of age, who has met the requirements for selection under the selection procedures, who is engaged in learning a designated trade and who has entered into a written apprentice agreement under the provisions of these standards.

Duties:
Each apprentice shall satisfactorily perform all work and learning assignments both on the job and in related instruction related to Computer Support Specialists/Cybersecurity.

This is an apprenticeship program for computer support specialists/cyber security occupations at Coastline. To achieve competency, students are required to write programs, develop network security plans, install tools in the field of network security, build and maintain secure networks, defend computer networks from outside attacks, and demonstrate the ability to analyze data on a compromised computer. Apprenticeship participants need to complete 2000 hours in paid training to meet the requirements and receive a certificate of completion.


Qualifications and Physical Demands

Education and Experience:
  • Level I - Completed up to 666 hours in apprenticeship program.
  • Level II - Completed 667-1332 hours in apprenticeship program.
  • Level III- Completed 1333-2000 hours in apprenticeship program.

Conditions of Employment

This is an apprenticeship position. Apprentices shall be members of the California Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Project (CCAP) program. The District reserves the right to extend, modify, or eliminate this position based upon available funds. The effective dates of employment will be arranged with the supervisor.

This is a recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill temporary/short-term assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary/short-term assignments as the need arises. Applications will remain in the pool for one year. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. Please do not call the Office of Human Resources regarding the status of your application.

Employment is contingent upon verification of employment history, background verification as governed under Education Code requirements, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the CCCD Board of Trustees. The hours of work and effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor.
