BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of the Food & Nutrition Program Manager is to manage Hope Express, Medically Tailored Meals, Fresh Choice Food Program and all other food/nutrition initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Provide direct supervision of Food & Nutrition Program staff including but not limited scheduling and evaluating employees
  2. Manage volunteer recruitment, registration, onboarding, placement and supervision
  3. Ensure compliance of food and nutrition programs according to internal policies and contractual terms
  4. Manage accounts receivable processes for the food and nutrition programs in coordination with Finance & Contracts Manager
  5. Manage street outreach services
  6. Order, inventory and manage food products, equipment and supplies
  7. Prepare and cook meals, as needed
  8. Manage menu planning, and ensure menu options are equally nutritious and culturally appropriate
  9. Manage food donations deliveries and gifts-in-kind records
  10. Manage intake and program eligibility for food & nutrition programs
  11. Operate and maintain the mobile kitchen trailer and assigned vehicles
  12. Serve on the Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team
  13. Schedule and coordinate nutrition workshops and trainings
  14. Coordinate with others agencies and providers to ensure continuity of care
  15. Coordinate medical referrals in coordination with contracted managed care plans
  16. Participate in weekly case conference meetings
  17. Participate in program and agency trainings as assigned
  18. Maintain accurate participant records in various information management systems; and generate reports as requested
  19. Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPPA standards
  20. Maintain a highly detailed and organized filling system
  21. Ensure intake and care procedures utilize harm reduction and trauma informed care principles
  22. Check and respond to emails and voicemails on a regular basis
  23. Adhere to confidentiality standards
  24. Other duties as assigned


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS



  1. Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level
  2. High degree of confidentiality
  3. Able to endorse and promote The Salvation Army's mission
  4. Associate's degree in food service management, Social Work, Human Services, or minimum two (2) years of food service management, social service/work and/or related experience preferred
  5. Computer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Word, Publisher, Excel and Outlook preferred
  6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  7. Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence
  8. Excellent organizational skills
  9. Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS



  1. High school diploma
  2. Must possess ServSafe Food Handler certification
  3. Must obtain the ServSafe Food Manager certification within first 90 days of employment
  4. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  5. Must be 21 years or older
  6. Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program
  7. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training
  8. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
  3. Ability to reach overhead
  4. Ability to operate telephone
  5. Ability to lift 50-70 lbs.
  6. Ability to operate a computer
  7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
  8. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.

This position is funded by a grant and its continuation is contingent upon the renewal of the grant funding. Employment in this role is dependent on the ongoing availability of funding, and there is no guarantee of continuation beyond the current funding period.
