**Remote Opportunity for Ohio Residents Only** Scope of Position The Lead Cancer Registrar is responsible for supporting the Cancer Registry director by independently managing research requests, serving as the cancer registry database liaison, overseeing and leading special projects, in addition to abstracting and analyzing clinical information and independently coding patient abstracts according to all oncology standard setter coding requirements, including the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and the Ohio Cancer Incidence Surveillance System reporting requirements. Position Summary the Lead Tumor Registrar assists in the daily operations of the cancer registry department, and independently oversees special projects. Responsible for the administrative and data coordination of the Oncology database, RCRS database submissions and monitoring for the James Cancer Registry and the data abstraction of eligible cases for ORIEN/ TCCP research project. Manages the collection, maintenance, and analysis of cancer registry and ORIEN/TCCP data; assures compliance with university regulations; prepares data for presentations; prepares statistical reports; and other duties as assigned by the Director for the Cancer Registry. Minimum Qualifications For Hire: A minimum of 4 years in a hospital-based cancer registry. 7 years preferred. A Bachelor's degree in health administration or related field required; Master's preferred and CTR is required. Experience in oncology data management desired. Familiarity of medical records content, chart review and abstraction and an understanding of medical and oncology terminology is required. Knowledge of medical practices related to cancer treatment / clinical trials and data management experience in an oncology setting required. Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, oncology nurses, patients as well as medical records / tumor registry personnel. Ongoing: Must maintain the Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential through the National Cancer Registrars Association. |
