The Progressive Cardiac Care Unit at The Johns Hopkins Hospital is a 32-bed unit, consisting of 20 telemetry, and 12 ICU step-down beds. The Registered Nurse cares for highly acute cardiac medicine patients with diagnoses such as acute MI, cardiomyopathy, dysrhythmia, and heart failure. Treatments are primarily medical, but frequently include intervention in the Cardiac Cath & Electrophysiology lab, including stent placement, ablation, PPM/AICD implantation, or TAVR. Due to the chronicity of cardiac disease, RN's have the opportunity to form strong positive relationships due to the extended stays of many patients and their families. This unit is resourced with a full-time "monitor watch" tech to assist in early detection of EKG changes and to alert nurses of lethal rhythms. New grad and experienced nurses on the floor will gain experience with vasoactive drip titration, Swann-Ganz catheters, LVADs, phlebotomy & IV insertion, ACLS, and palliative care.

Requirements:




  • Baccalaureate degree, in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing, preferred.

    Applicants with an Associate Degree in nursing will be considered and must matriculate to BSN program w/in 6 mths w/completion in 5 years
  • Active BLS via AHA, American Red Cross or Military Training Network at time of hire
  • Active Maryland RN or Compact License at time of hire
