Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Sr. Immunohematology Specialist Clinical Lab - Transfusion Services Full Time 77328BR Job Summary The Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Sr. Specialist Immunohematology is responsible for training of new/existing personnel, medical students, residents, and fellows on Immunohematology procedures. Assigning workups and special testing, and review of antibody identification workups. Develop and evaluate new test procedures, products, and equipment; make recommendations to Senior Supervisor. Assist in validation of new Transfusion Service automated instruments as per manufacturer's specifications and the Transfusion Service quality plans. Oversee the purchase of all Transfusion Service reagents and instrument consumables. Assist in maintaining and ensuring the Transfusion Service automated instruments are in good working order. Assist the Quality Assurance Specialist on maintaining vendor validation on all Transfusion Service reagents and instrument consumables. Assist in the competency and technical proficiency evaluations of all Transfusion Service personnel to be compliant with all regulatory and accreditation guidelines (AABB, CAP, FDA, etc.). Assist in and ensure continued smooth operation of the Transfusion Service and provide adequate response to patient needs. Coordinate reference testing performed, review and post results, update billing. Oversee potential solid organ transplant patients with antibodies or special antigen negative requirements, assure RBCs are secured and available to support transplant. Perform additional duties, projects and/or special assignments. Must be able to work in a high-volume setting.
