Job Details:

Responsibilities
  • Gather, review and analyze clinical data from patient health databases including, but not limited to: hospital medical records, TCPCHD patient databases, registry databases, clinical rounds and other available sources for reporting and identifying areas of clinical improvement cardiovascular (CV) outcomes

  • Work with clinical providers and outcomes data specialists to create timely and accurate reports of opportunities identified during quality assurance conferences for the Heart Center service line

  • With the help of the HTD leadership, develop and manage quality improvement projects in support of clinicians and nursing staff related to the mission of the TCPCHD Program (i.e. resulting in improved outcomes and clinical cost reduction)

  • Be the point of contact with the Dell Children's Medical Center Hospital Quality and Patient Safety department by participating in meetings, workshops, etc.

  • Actively participate in/or lead committee or workgroups where quality, patient safety, patient engagement or operational efficiency/effectiveness is the primary focus.

  • Monitor and evaluate the development and results of quality improvement programs and initiatives to determine their results, then modify as needed

  • Assist in clinical outcomes processes as needed to complete quality improvement duties which may consist of data abstraction

  • Assist in the development of new programs and protocols that lead to improved care, design and maintenance of the database infrastructure required for clinical data collection and reporting

  • Measure baseline metrics and outcomes of quality improvement projects developed as part of the TCPCHD Program

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

BSN with 3-5 years of clinical experience (or commensurate relevant background). Special interest in database management and quality improvement. Strong critical thinking skills, self-direction, and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience with creating data quality reports. High computer proficiency, including the basic MS Office suite (specifically, MS Excel), database software and project management tools. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience with the use of electronic medical records and clinical data. Must complete the Ascension Texas Performance Improvement Cohort Course within 12 months of assuming the position. Must achieve Quality Improvement certification within 2 years of taking the position, if not already obtained.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

MSN with Quality Improvement certification and 2-3 years implementation experience in a hospital setting. Familiarity with congenital heart disease registries (ie. STS, IMPACT, PC4, PAC3) and statistical reporting knowledge and data visualization software

Project management experience (ie Lean Six Sigma). Experience with design and management of clinical databases, registries, and quality improvement projects. Knowledge of clinical informatics and/or data analytics. Clinical experience in congenital heart disease

Salary Range

$80,000 + depending on qualifications
