Duties/Responsibilities


Duties/Responsibilities
Design and test regeneration/transformation protocols for grasses using appropriate experimental design. Advanced level of awareness of the methods, procedures, and techniques used in plant transformation and genome editing.
Percentage of time 20


Duties/Responsibilities
Design and test vectors for transformation and editing. Advanced molecular techniques and cloning, as well as sterile technique, media preparation, plant tissue and cell culture - isolation and maintenance of embryogenic tissue.

Design, test, and analyze a) multiplexed genome editing in a heterozygous polypoid, and b) engineer one metabolic pathway. Molecular genetic methods, including high-throughput DNA sequencing and genotyping technologies, as well as tissue culture and regeneration.

Communicating regularly and in a timely fashion with the PI regarding research and other issues relevant to the operation of the laboratory and prepare timely progress reports, record technical procedures with a high level of detail, analyze data as necessary, and promptly prepare manuscripts for publication.

Duties/Responsibilities
Coordinating research with other labs. Assisting with the daily operations of the laboratory as well as the training and supervision of the other members of the laboratory. Handle permits and shipping authorization requests. Other related duties as assigned. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills used.
