Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty members tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience. The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a Vision Scientist or Clinician Scientist to join the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience. Position Overview The Havener Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at The Ohio State University is a growing practice. We are currently seeking applicants for a full-time Vision Scientist or Clinician Scientist position. Qualified candidates will have a PhD, MD/PhD, OD/PhD, or DO/PhD and appropriate postdoctoral experience. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to further academic and research efforts outlined by the Chair of Ophthalmology and Vice Chair of Research. Duties and Responsibilities It is expected that the academic mission of the Department and institution would be supported. In consultation with the Department Chair, there will be opportunities to pursue research, quality improvement initiatives, health sciences, data science, curriculum development, teaching in undergraduate and graduate level courses, and other service activities consistent with the faculty assignment. Active participation in divisional, departmental, and/or college committee functions is expected. Participation in local, regional, national, and international professional organizations is also expected. Requirements Successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain an energetic, independent, and well-funded research program while also contributing to the educational, service, and scholarly mission of the OSU Wexner Medical Center and College of Medicine. Preference will be given to individuals with demonstrated ability to secure extramural funding. Desired experience includes the following: diabetic eye diseases of cornea or retina, vascular biology, glaucoma, genetics and genomics of ocular diseases, inherited retinal diseases, and health services research. Proficiency in data science with machine learning, deep learning, and AI applications in healthcare or ocular imaging is highly desirable.
