A reasonable estimate for Berkeley SSEAS positions is $66,259 to $72,404; salary is commensurate with teaching experience.

Position description

The Department of South and Southeast Asian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, invites application of a pool of qualified temporary, non-tenure track lecturers, to teach courses in South and Southeast Asian Studies, should a need arise.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): teaching, holding office hours, assigning grades, preparing course materials, maintaining a course website and compiling teaching materials and interacting with students outside of class time via email and campus web-based course resources.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Advanced degree or enrolled in an advanced degree program (or equivalent international degree).

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Advanced degree (or equivalent international degree).

For those who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States (such as a US visa that allows employment) is required by the start date of the position. The department is unable to provide a visa/work permit.

Preferred qualifications

PhD (or equivalent international degree) in South and Southeast Asian Studies or related field. Fluency in English. Experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level in the US. Familiarity with UC Berkeley Reading and Composition requirements.
