Sonographer Specialty Clinical Supervisor

Inova Health System's Fairfax Hospital is looking for a Sonographer Specialty Clinical Supervisor to join our Imaging Team. This role is full time, Monday - Friday, 7am-3:30pm. Sign-on Bonus & Relocation available for those eligible.

Sonographer Specialty Imaging Clinical Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Explains procedures to patients/families and answers any questions to ease patients' anxiety and ensure the safety/cooperation of patients.
  • Assists medical staff in performing a variety of exams by utilizing department policies/protocols, isolation precautions and sterile technique as required. Ensures that infection control standards are met to ensure the safety of patients and team members.
  • Effectively communicate with medical staff / Radiologists.
  • Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history from patients or patients' charts to assist medical staff in optimizing performance and interpretation of examinations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent situations that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcomes.
  • Coordinates, evaluates and participates in periodic divisional/departmental education and annual competencies.
  • Assist in the recruitment process by interviewing potential team members.
  • Maintain bi-weekly staffing schedule.
  • Maintain department supply levels.
  • Able to provide instruction to student sonographers and team members accordingly.

Sonographer Specialty Imaging Clinical Supervisor Additional Requirements:

  • Work schedule: Full-time, Day shift
  • Location: Fairfax Hospital
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a hospital/healthcare environment. Preferred if experience includes completion of an Inova supervised training practicum. Ability to perform QA/QC testing and interpret results, implement PI plan
  • Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; ARDMS, CCI, or ARRT certification registered. Must be RDMS/ARRT with at least two sonographer specialties (i.e. OB/GYN, Breast, AB) OR RVT/RVS/VS with specialty in Vascular or Neurosonology (ARDMS with RVT highly preferred).
  • Other: Interpersonal, communication, consultation, facilitation, and presentation skillsets. Basic computer skills to include Word processing and spreadsheet analysis as well as electronic medical records and PACS troubleshooting. Able to perform on-call, shift, holiday, and weekend work when required.
